Romero: Did his job, didn’t have real tests today. 6/10
Smalling: Average, was going to give an early penalty because of a handball in the 6th minute. 6/10
Lindelof: Wasn’t marking the players well on the 6th minute, still a bit sloppy. 5/10
Luke Shaw: Was slow and it seemed like he gained weight as well. However, it wasn’t his best match and missed a lot of balls. 5/10
Young: Huddersfield Town gave him a nightmare tonight. But tried to cope. 5/10
Matic: Gave a lot of effort in defense, was playing as a central defender sometimes. 7/10
Carrick: Class never dies, was playing in a very defensive mood which helped the team go forward at sometimes. 7/10
McTominay: A good match by the youngster, tried to create and was fighting on the pitch. 7/10
Sanchez: Was playing as a wingback, a lot of defensive duties. But was able to make the difference, especially in the second goal with a world-class assist. Provided an accurate long pass on the 63rd minute for Lukaku, but Lukaku didn’t score. His long passes through the defense are so dangerous. 7/10
Mata: A correct disallowed goal in the last seconds of the first half, and an amazing assist. Was the creative player in the third half. 7/10
Lukau: Was the counter attackman today with two goals from a counter attack. Not the best match, but he was the man who made the difference. 8/10
Martial: Didn’t do much, but had some brilliant moments and dribbles. 6/10
Lingard: Not much time to impress. 5/10
Bailly: Played barely 60 seconds. N/A
Man of the match: Romelu Lukaku deserves it for his two goals. Wasn’t the best player on the pitch, but clearly his contribution to the scored goals is huge.
Jose Mourinho (Manager): A good qualification, but the performance was so poor, especially in the first half where Huddersfield Town dominated Manchester United in everything, except the result. The defensive tactics gave Huddersfield Town the advantage, even after Manchester United score the first goal three minutes after the beginning of the match.
However, it’s time for the Champions League matches now. 6/10
